Introducing George: Originally a very scratched unattractive art deco style chair that I was commissioned to bring up to date. George perfectly demonstrates the transformative power of upcycling.
The Process: George was meticulously stripped back to bare wood before his frame underwent ebonizing, a technique that reacts with the natural tannins in the wood to achieve a rich, dark finish. The seat and back were then reupholstered in elegant off-white fabric, completing his sophisticated new look. If you have a piece you'd like to ebonise, or even just have upcycled please get in touch.
Please bear in mind that this is a vintage piece that has had a previous long life, so you may find some signs of his previous life, but if you do they will not detract from the beauty of the finished item.
